Eskrima Doce Pares: Farewell SGM Dionisio “Diony” Cañete

SGM Diony Cañete: Doce Pares Eskrima-Kali-Arnis

The news of the passing of SGM Dionisio “Diony” Cañete has come with great shock and sadness for all that knew him. The FMA world has today lost a great Martial Artist.
Our Deepest condolences to his wife Daisy, Master Gerald his son and to his family, as well as to the wider Doce Pares Family.
SGM Diony warmly welcomed us and our group on the many occasions we traveled to Doce Pares HQ, and to other parts of the world where we had the privilege of being in his presence.
What SGM Diony has done for Filipino Martial Arts amounts to a very long list indeed - and the amount he gave back to his community and to the world of FMA is to be forever respected and honored. Doce Pares and WEKAF wouldn't be what they are today without him. He worked tirelessly to promote the Philippine national sport of Eskrima all over the world.
SGM Diony’s dream was to make Eskrima an Olympic sport, and just two short years ago, that dream came one step closer to becoming a reality when for the first time ever, Eskrima was added as a category in the SEA Games (Southeast Asian Games).
With great respect and love, we will forever honour SGM Dionisio “Diony” Cañete's memory, his friendship and the knowledge he has gifted us all. 🙏
